4 lakes in Presque Isle County are 75 ft deep or more by Michigan DNR survey. Bear Den Lake is the deepest at 100 ft, then Rainy Lake (98 ft), Shoepac Lake (94 ft) and Francis Lake (83 ft). The depth of the other 27 named lakes has not been surveyed; where an older state estimate exists, the register gives it as an estimate.

Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 48 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Presque Isle County is 7 ft. The clearest is Lake Esau at about 13 ft, then Lower Barnhart Lake (13 ft), Francis Lake (13 ft) and McIntosh Lake (12 ft). The least clear is Hackett Lake at about 2 ft. Michigan DNR has stocked 9 lakes in Presque Isle County 188 times since 1979. Walleye went into 4 lakes: Lake Esau, Long Lake, Ocqueoc Lake and Rainy Lake.
