Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 19 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Ontonagon County is 7 ft. The clearest is County Line Lake at about 13 ft, then Sand Lake (12 ft), Steusser Lake (10 ft) and Courtney Lake (9 ft). The least clear is Tailings Pond at about 2 ft. Michigan DNR has stocked 8 lakes in Ontonagon County 153 times since 1979. Walleye went into 4 lakes: Bond Falls Flowage, Lake Gogebic, Sudden Lake and Victoria Reservoir. The most recent stocking was 1,998 splake in Mirror Lake on 2 March 2026. Courtney Lake is designated trout lake (Type B), with their own seasons and limits.
