2 lakes in Ogemaw County are 75 ft deep or more by Michigan DNR survey. George Lake is the deepest at 90 ft, then Sage Lake (80 ft), Peach Lake (70 ft) and Rifle Lake, Hill Township (70 ft). The depth of the other 38 named lakes has not been surveyed; where an older state estimate exists, the register gives it as an estimate.

Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 74 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Ogemaw County is 10 ft. The clearest is Clear Lake, Richland Township at about 16 ft, then Bush Lake (15 ft), Devoe Lake (14 ft) and Welles Lake (14 ft). The least clear is Hardwood Lake at about 2 ft. Clarity is not a test for bacteria or algae toxins.

Michigan DNR has stocked 22 lakes in Ogemaw County 388 times since 1979. Walleye went into 12 lakes: Au Sable Lake, Bush Lake, Clear Lake, Foster Township, Devoe Lake, George Lake, Henderson Lake, Jewett Lake, Lake Ogemaw, Peach Lake, Rifle Lake, Hill Township, Sage Lake and Stylus Lake. The most recent stocking was 41,448 walleye in Sage Lake on 23 June 2026. Lake George is designated trout lake (Type B), with their own seasons and limits.
