Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 69 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Oceana County is 9 ft. The clearest is Crystal Lake, Hart Township at about 16 ft, then Butternut Lake (16 ft), Crystal Lake (15 ft) and East Lake (15 ft). The least clear is Jakes Lake at about 3 ft. Michigan DNR has stocked 4 lakes in Oceana County 80 times since 1979. Walleye went into 3 lakes: Hart Lake, School Section Lake and Silver Lake.
