Bills Lake is the deepest at 90 ft, then Fremont Lake (88 ft), Ryerson Lake (80 ft) and Pickerel Lake, Garfield Township (73 ft). The depth of the other 46 named lakes has not been surveyed; where an older state estimate exists, the register gives it as an estimate.

Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 60 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Newaygo County is 10 ft. The clearest is Amaung Lake at about 17 ft, then Highbank Lake (17 ft), Conover Lake (16 ft) and Baptist Lake (16 ft). The least clear is Martin Lake at about 2 ft. Michigan DNR has stocked 14 lakes in Newaygo County 276 times since 1979. Walleye went into 8 lakes: Baptist Lake, Bills Lake, Brooks Lake, Emerald Lake, Fremont Lake, Martin Lake, Nichols Lake and Pickerel Lake, Garfield Township. The most recent stocking was 52,142 walleye in Fremont Lake on 3 June 2026. Condon Lake is designated trout lake (Type C), with their own seasons and limits.
