13 lakes in Luce County are 50 ft deep or more by Michigan DNR survey. Syphon Lake is the deepest at 160 ft, then Bass Lake (74 ft), Camp Eight Lake (74 ft) and Long Lake, McMillan Township (71 ft). The depth of the other 81 named lakes has not been surveyed; where an older state estimate exists, the register gives it as an estimate.

Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 104 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Luce County is 6 ft. The clearest is North Belle Lake at about 18 ft, then Pretty Lake (17 ft), Camp Eight Lake (16 ft) and Pratt Lake (15 ft). The least clear is Crooked Lake at about 1 ft. Clarity is not a test for bacteria or algae toxins.

Michigan DNR has stocked 28 lakes in Luce County 715 times since 1979. Walleye went into 9 lakes: Bass Lake, Beaverhouse Lake, Bodi Lake, Culhane Lake, East Lake, Little Pike Lake, Muskallonge Lake, Pike Lake and Pretty Lake.
