8 lakes in Baraga County are 25 ft deep or more by Michigan DNR survey. Lake Alice is the deepest at 51 ft, then Coon Lake (45 ft), Ruth Lake (35 ft) and Big Lake (34 ft). The depth of the other 65 named lakes has not been surveyed; where an older state estimate exists, the register gives it as an estimate.

Clarity is the depth at which a black-and-white Secchi disk disappears from view. Across 64 lakes with satellite readings, the middle value in Baraga County is 7 ft. The clearest is Little Michigamme Lake at about 12 ft, then Clear Lake, L'Anse Township (11 ft), Fence Lake (11 ft) and Lake Alice (10 ft). The least clear is Flanigan Slough at about 2 ft. Clarity is not a test for bacteria or algae toxins.

Michigan DNR has stocked 14 lakes in Baraga County 258 times since 1979. Walleye went into 8 lakes: Beaufort Lake, Big Lake, King Lake, Parent Lake, Petticoat Lake, Roland Lake, Ruth Lake and Saint Johns Lake. The most recent stocking was 1,500 brook trout in Roland Lake on 30 April 2026. Roland Lake is designated trout lake (Type B), with their own seasons and limits. Rivers and smaller waters stocked in the county: Bishop Lake, Black Creek, Curwood Lake, Daults Creek, Denomie Creek, East Branch Huron River, Falls River and Grid 1423 and 24 more.
